SneakHerBox Artist Series: Emily Main

Introducing: Emily Main of Emily's Custom Shoes

Stats:
18
Hailing from Mankato, Minnesota,
Rookie with Big Talent, and Even Bigger Dreams

High School in itself is a hustle, you work hard to make your grades and prepare for your future. While some students, spent their time idle or od'ing on extracurriculars, Emily Main, 18, spent her time perfecting her craft. "In high school I let my ADD get the best of me in class and I doodled all the time." Those doodles were the beginnings of Emily's development as an artist, and her special skill eventually created a buzz among her peers. She states, " I started with shoes, moved to hats then went on to sweatshirts and t-shirts." Now back to producing custom designs for kicks, she finds inspiration to design in her surroundings, "...I always look at a piece of artwork or just anything from paintings to someone else's shoes...and think of how could I incorporate that into (a design) of my own." Garnering many requests for unique shoe designs amongst her friends, Emily hopes that her creations can help build the foundation for a promising career in the sneaker customization industry.

Now a graduate, Emily has plans of developing her love for art and sneaker customization into a power business, along the ranks of some major companies in the game. "I have big dreams of becoming the next big thing like Nike...", she says; "you all just wait and see!" And as for the male competition in this industry, Emily doesn't even sweat the technique, "Honestly, I look up to all these big shoe companies and most of them are men. I someday hope to be up there with them representing the females in the world." Spoken like a true champ.

To catch up with Emily and see more of her work, check her out on her Facebook page and also on My.KicksOnFire.Com page!

Could it Be??? Air Jordan DMP II News...

So more official news about the second Defining Moments Pack hit the web today, although speculations have been brewing since release of the first DMP. Allz we know about the DMP II is that it will indeed feature two pairs of sneakers, both Jordan V (5) models, and may or may not incorporate the bulls colorway. No pics or further details as of yet, but the pack will drop in May of 09. Not too sure whether im excited or not, I've kinda OD'd off the bulls colorways with the CDPs this year, so I was hoping for something new. But maybe I'll be pleasantly surprsied *shrugs* only time will tell!

Saw this *somewhat* breaking news from The Shoe Game over in the SP forums. Of course we can't finish out the 2008 year without Nike already cashing in our future funds for 2009. Below are a gang of pics featuring Mens, Womens, and Kids upcoming releases for next summer. Including bg shots there have got to be nearly a hundred <--exaggerating >> kicks set to drop. The Air Force 1s keep rolling out for the ladies as the year ends. Check out the latest pair above, which sports a similar colorway similar to the Nike WMNS Dunk His picked for last weeks' Sneak of the Week post. An obvious variation would be the grey swoosh, sole and laces. Expect these sneakers to release in early November at Nike retailers!

Coming Soon...

A new series highlighting female artists in the sneaker customization industry. I've always had an afinity for custom kicks and its time to show some love to those who can take a basic sneaker, flip it, and create a unique masterpiece. This month, SneakHerBox.com will be shining its spotlight on Emily Main, a fresh new talent who's new to the game but definitely is bringing the heat already. We'll be taking submissions for the next month's artist, so if you or a young lady you know is into the custom game, send your name and a brief paragraph abour yourself and what you do to sneakerette@gmail.com. Look for the first entry of the series later this month!

Tadow!!! How You Like Us Now - Nike WMNS Dunk Hi

Just saw these up at Finishline. One of thee hottest Premiums I've seen period, nevermind them being for the ladies! Sporting a black/grey and neon green (sexaaaay) colorway, these kicks also come equipped with a variety of materials, including a patent leather toebox and predominantly suede heel. Sweeet, and spooky I suppose. There's a creepy box graphic of some sort on the insole, so I'm assuming this is Nike's way of giving a halloween treat to us grown ups.

*UPDATE* These babies are now up on the Finishline website, get yours today!

Kicks: Nike WMNS Terminator Hi "Patch Quilt"

Let me be the first to say I LOVE Terminator Highs! A very awesome shoe that rarely gets any play in ladies' sizes, but has totally resurged in 2008. This time around Nike brings us a dope Native American inspired sneaker with a "patch quilt" design on the back paneling. The red laces and big NIKE logo on the back really bring the pi-zazz. And let's not forget to mention the SUEDE (love suede too) upper, awww what a beautiful piece of art haha :) I love em! No release date info as of yet, but expect these sometime this fall.
