The Central Region Nike team held an event on Friday, February 26th to celebrate Black History Month to which I was invited. With the help of youth art's organization Kuumba Lynx and special entertainment "Footworkingz" the evening focused on empowerment and unity. The night also highlighted this year's special edition BHM Nike Air Force 1 Low, which for the first time ever, released for retail. The sneaker features the traditional Pan-African Flag colors of black, red, and green with lasered writing and symbols that also speak to the history of African Americans. What's also great about this year's BHM AF1 is that it was designed by an African American woman, Ms Shaneika Warden. I enjoyed seeing the youth members of Kuumba Lynx perform their poetry and dance inspired by the current state of the world and their communities. Special thanks to Nike for organizing such an amazing event, I hope to see it continue on in the future. Pics from the night after the jump.

On The Daily Launch & Air Jordan Anniversary Retro 2 Release Party @ Succezz
After the Nike BHM event, I headed over to Succezz Boutique, Downtown Chicago's Premier Sneaker and Apparel Shops, to check out the On The Daily Comic Launch and AJ Retro 2 "25th Anniversary" Release Party. Although the OTD Comic is very new on the scene, I am already an uber fan, what could be better than a comic strip about SNEAKERHEADS from the city of WIND??? Nothing I tell you, NOTHING. The amazing team behind the drawings consist of Solo RM (pictured with me above) and St!zo - both lovers of sneaker culture and terrific artists. It was wonderful meeting them and I hope to interview the duo in the near future. Be sure to check the OTD site every Monday for a new comic!
Succezz was also the place to be for the Anniversary Air Jordan Retro 2 release. The white/silver 3M retro 2 is one of many primarly white based AJ models being dropped this year to commemorate the 25th year since MJ entered the NBA and completely REVOLUTIONIZED the game of basketball - likewise for the sneaker industry. The drinks and food were flowing and the fellas were definitely lining up to cop a pair, I only wish they were available in GS sizes. I was, however, able to cop the Air Jordan Vivid Pink Spiz'ikes GS which are set to drop next week, SCORE! The night was slamming and I had an awesome time! Check out pics after the jump!

What's New @ NDC: Nike WMS Air Max 1 Club Purple/Dark Pink -White
As the surge in Air Max 1 releases continues on, we ladies can look forward to a stunning new colorway just for us. A purple mudguard and swoosh take up a majority of the sneaker, while pink is used for the sockliner and air unit. Yellow shines its way onto the shoe on the lace loops. Simple, yet tastefully done! This pair is available for purchase now at Nikestore.com.
Things I Need
To say "I've slept on these" is the understatement of the century - when they dropped in 08 I was like meeeeeeeeh, but time went on and they started to grow on me. Then I had the opportunity to get a pair a year later (DS no less!) but hit the snooze button yet again, UGH! Maybe if I wish hard enough, they'll turn up again somewhere, third time's the charm, right?

Kicks: Vans Classics Chambray Pack - Old School/Sk8-Hi/Era
It's nice to see Chambray fabric used more frequently by various sneaker brands. The material has a very clean, sophisticated look, and ultimately takes whatever sneaker it's being used on to the next level. The newest Pack from the Vans camp features three classic models - the Old School, SK8-Hi, and Era - all decked in either black or sky blue Chambray and canvas. Niiiiice. For the most part, Vans brand sneakers come in small sizes, except on special releases - my fingers are crossed that I'll see a size 4.5 in mens somewhere - I'll keep you posted when I find purchase info! More pics after the jump!
Things I Need
Old I know, but I still want them :)
Hmmm, maybe I should stop by Rotofugi and see what they have in stock.
Could It Be (GS)? Nike Air Max 90 Infrared - The Return - Fall 2010
If your sneaker size is a 7Y and lower, then I'm sure you had a bone to pick with Nike two years ago when the Air Max 90 Infrared dropped as a Quickstrike. I was like "WTF GUS?!?!? What about meeeeeeeee???" Well, it seems as though the Swoosh may have gotten the hint this go round because we can expect to see the highly coveted sneaker re-released this Fall as a GR. WHOOT!!! Now with that being said, there is still no guarantee they'll be available in Gradeschool Sizes, but seeing as though the Nike Air Max 95 Neon that dropped yesterday released Full Family, hopefully these will as well. I DESPERATELY NEED THESE! Cha'mon Nike, do us all a solid! Another shot of this lovely sneak awaits after the jump.

Did You Cop? Sneaker Saturday - Nike AM95 Neon & Air Jordan Bred Spiz'ike
Today the sneaker world saw the resurgence of a timeless classic and a new favorite which got the traditional colorway treatment. The Air Max 95 Neon is hands down a staple in most sneakerheads runner collection - and although it has been retro'd several times, it is always well received, this Saturday's release being no different. I'm especially thrilled that the drop was a Full Size Run - so the kiddies and Small Footed females got some love! Also on shelves today from Jordan Brand is the rarely referenced as a fusion Spiz'ike model - sporting the iconic Bred (Black/Red) colorway #jordanheads have come to cherish. Both are out at your favorite Nike and Air Jordan retailers and online at sneaker shops such as Citysole. Direct links to both pairs in GS sizes are listed below. And if you picked yours up today, send a twitpic to @SneakHerBox to get a RT!
Where to Buy:
Kicks: Nike WMS Air Force 1 Stud Premium - Black/Black - Birch - Dark Grey
Seeing as though I'm still fuming that the Workboot Air Force 1 didn't drop in small sizes, I'm super happy NSW decided to hook the ladies up with a Premium Force just as sexy. Premium black leather, studded accents, and rivets make this release NASTY - in a good way of course. It's nice to see a harder, more rugged colorway and design pattern for the ladies because we are often stuck in a pink and blue box of color redundancy. For all the ladies who like to switch it up and thug it out, these are now available online at NSW and at Nike Sportswear retailers.
Collabs: X-Girl x Nike Sportswear x Bearbrick Blazer Pack
Any one who follows the blog knows that I am a sucker for shiny things. Upon seeing the above pictured blazer pack, I was blown away! Japanese apparel company X-girl mashes up with the Swoosh this go round for a swanky set of Blazers featuring tiny silver and black sequin. Also included in this set is an authentic 100% Bearbricks figurine by toy juggernaut Medicom. As happy as I am about this collab, I'm saddened at the fact that this is yet another international release - no word on a U.S. drop as of now. I may just have to bite the bullet and pay those shipping fees, because they are now available at Sneakers n Stuff.
*UPDATE: Pack was available via Nike.com
More Info on:
Overseas Ish: Nike WMS Air Max 90 Premium - White/Shadow Purple - Neutral Grey
Although we get a ton of great releases here in the states, international drops sometimes make me neon green with with sneaker envy. One of the more recent releases to evoke that feeling is a new Nike Air Max 90 premium especially for the ladaaaaaaays (ladies). Nearly a try-on esque colorway, the pale purple and tonal grey accents of leather and suede combine to create a run-away hit. Not to mention the bit of snazz added with the clear swoosh, yeah, we've got a winner of our hands! As of now, these are only available via Caliroots - but, hopefully, we'll get some U.S release info in the near future, be sure to check back with sneakherbox.com for updates.

SBeezies: Nike SB Releases February 2010
This month's Nike SB selections are a step up from the lackluster product we've been seeing lately, how long this will last, eh, no one knows really. The Gold Leaf Blazer and "Coogi" inspired Dunk High are just a couple highlights, as is the Corduroy Janoski and Orange Dunk High (pictured above). Be sure to check out the rest of the pics below and stop by or give the fam over at Uprise (Chicago) a call to order. More after the jump.
