Sneak of the Week: Nike 6.0 WMNS Dunk High - Bold Berry

Another Dunk High finds it's way into the Sneak of the Week bunch today by way of the Nike 6.0 line.  I must say, I think I'm in love.  I know, I know, I say that alot, but this time I'm for really real! The stunning mix of bright pink "croc" embossed nubuck against textured silver side panels and toe box scream "premium" to me.  I can't believe these are essentially, a 6.0 GR.  But then again, I shouldn't be surprised.  Nike 6.0 has put a number of astonishing Dunk Highs in the past few years and I see that the brand has no intention on stopping.  Okdeen! This sweet pair will be available at NY shop ExtraButter.  I gotta make a phone call...

Windy City Sole Summit Recap

Just a few pics from the Windy City Sole Summit which took place on September 5th.  I arrived super late and everyone was just about packing up but I managed to catch up with a few of my sneaker friends and snap some quick shots.  I'm really glad Chicago is getting more and more sneaker events - it's about time! This was also the same day that Monica (teamSFS) and I met up with AstroWifey for the sneakHer nail art party (if you follow me on twitter, you might've seen me talking about this).  A sneak peak from the shoot is below as well.

Air Jordan XIV (14) Girls - Black/Desert Pink

An all-new Air Jordan 14 Retro for girls is slated to release this November.  The colorway consists of a black base with rich, deep (desert) pink accents.  Most interesting about this new pair is the contrast of materials - nubuck and glossy synthetic panels - which really seem to work well here.  Is this a winner for the ladys? We'll have to see on November 19th when these arrive in retail stores. via Villa's FB page.

adidas Originals - Women's Honey Hook

If you live in the midwest, you know that Fall is unofficially upon us.  While I am sad to say my goodbyes to Summer, I am looking forward to switching up the wardrobe and adding a few new pairs of kicks to the line-up.  One possible addition is the above pictured adidas Originals Honey Hook.  Super rich turquoise blue nubuck is paired with a black twill tongue and vulcanized rubber outsole, which provides a durable base for this pair.  Hook lacing is the final touch and gives these a rugged yet casual appeal.  Very cute :) You can check out this pair now at SNS.

Nike Air Mag 2011 - Re-Designed by a Female?

Over the past week, sneakerheads around the world are buzzing about the recently released Nike Air Mag of Back to the Future fame.  Since its "return", ladies and gents have been feeling nostalgic and soaking up all the info there is about the 2011 auction-style release. But did you know the latest incarnation was re-vamped by a female? Tiffany Beers, a Nike footwear designer (and dream-job holder!), was tasked by Tinker Hatfield himself to help recreate the Nike Air Mag, and bring the BTTF staple to the present with a futuristic feel.  She's done a fine job and we commend her on being a innovator in the sneaker world! Great work, Tiffany!

As you may recall from this post, Italian brand Ellesse recently linked up with five top European shops to re-design classic models from the Ellesse Heritage capsule.  Included in that line-up is Parisian lifestyle store, Colette. For the project, Colette chose to revamp the "Assist" basketball shoe,

Great news about this release is that it will be available in Women's sizes - what whaaaaaat! The Colette x Ellesse Assist will drop on September 15th at Colette as well as online at Ellesse Heritage.  There will only be 150 pairs available, so move swiftly!

Girls Got Kicks Book + Book Tour

If you haven't heard, the original Female Sneaker Fiend, Ms. Lori Lobenstein, just finished up the highly anticipated book entitled, "Girls Got Kicks!" which takes a look at the female sneaker movement through the eyes of women in the culture.  Girls Got Kicks tells their stories through vivid photography (by Miss Amanda Lopez) with words crafted by Lori.  It is sure to be a game-changer for this industry, not only for the females, but the gents can appreciate this work as well.

To commemorate the book's release, they'll be a book tour featuring the OG herself coming to a select number of cities, including the first stop in NYC.  Find out if the book tour will be hitting your town over at Girls Got Kicks and be sure to pick up your copy of the book when it hits Amazon this week! Sneak of the Week: Nike Air Max 95 GS - White/Maize - Grey

We love this traditional cascading shades of grey + dash of lace-loops color format for AM95s, so its no surprise that this particular colorway made our Sneak of the Week.  Maize yellow takes center stage on this pair and really pops against the grey.  Me likey! For My Lacquerheads: Zoya Gems and Jewels Holiday 2011 Collection

Okay, so this isn't sneaker news, but we here at sneakHerbox do love our nail polish, and we think some of our readers do too.  As the year continues on, brands are starting to drop info surrounding their Holiday 2011 releases, including a few nail polish companies.  Zoya brand is gearing up for winter blitz with a new collection which includes jewel toned polishes and bar glitter topcoats.  You can expect to see this collection to roll into beauty stores on September 15, 2011.  I think the colors look great, but I'm a bit apprehensive about bar glitter because in my past experiences with it, it is a doozey to remove (as with all glitter polishes).  Are you going to pick up any of these polishes?

Ellesse Heritage - Fab Five Collection

Wow, it's really been a full week since I last spoke to you guise :) I missed you! I'm back from my trip to Miami, took some time away from Chicago life and the innanetz to spend time with loved ones and it was awesome!  Now I am back to bring you the sneaker news you've come to love here on sneakHerbox.com.  First up today is the Fab Five Collection from Italian footwear brand Ellesse.  The brand's re-issuance line, Ellesse Heritage, has reached out to five top European retailers to put their unique spin on a classic Ellesse model.  Boutiques invited to participate were colette, Harvey Nichols, Grand Boutique, Sneakersnstuff, and 24 Kilates.  This limited collection will release overseas on September 15th online at elleseeheritage.com and at those select retailers.  Check out the video above to get a sneak peak at each store's design creation and stay tuned for more details regarding this release to come.

Pastry Kicks - Sire Hi Varsity - Back to School Pack

Right now you're either not sure if serious, but yes, this is a post, about Pastry Shoes.  Don't be shocked, there's nothing wrong with diversity in the realm of sneakers although I know that if it's not a Jordan or Nike release, a lot of you will not even consider it.  Nevertheless, here at sneakHerbox we plan on bringing you more of what you wouldn't normally see on other sneaker sites. And since there really wasn't a Nike Back to School Pack, it's only right that we show some love to a brand that actually did stick with that theme.  The Sire Hi Varsity sports a blend of wool and leather in four different color combos - grey, burgundy, purple and black - to give you the feel of an actual varsity jacket.  A chenille letter "P" is attached in keychain style on the laceloops of each pair.  I think they did a swell job of capturing that back to school vibe.  Would you rock?

adidas Originals WMNS Ecstasy Mid Sleek - Solid Magenta

Okay, I have a sneakHer confession, I'm a sucker for high-tops.  No matter the brand and typically, no matter the color, if it's a high-top, I'd probably rock it.  Although the adidas brand is usually considered when speaking of low top shell toes, they do a pretty good job of bringing some Hi heat to the table.  Case in point, the above pictured women's Ecstasy Mid in a deep pink.  Super shiny patent leather is paired with smooth suede to add a lux feel to this pair, while the super sleek design makes these appealing to female sneaker fiends as well as chicks who only rock kicks once in a spell.  Being that I consider myself the former, I'll take one please! Nike WMNS Air Max 95 - Vivid Grape/Vivid Grape - Bold Berry

Did you hear that? Oh, it was just me screaming an emphatic "YES!" at the top of my lungs.  Not only are the air units in OG form like we reported they would be, but this monochrome beauty looks stunning in a brilliantly colored magenta (bold berry) with just a smidgen of purple seen on the outsole and middle panel.  In addition to the bangin' colorway, we see sultry suede on the signature AM95 panels. Sneak of the Week: Nike 6.0 WMNS Dunk High - Black / Pink / Silver

IT'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

If you've been following the blog, you might remember the "Sneak of the Week" category from way-way back.  Welp, I've decided to bring it back to share with you guys and gals.  The pair you see above is perfect in all ways IMO; clear color placement, a vivid colorway, a bit of mesh on the side panels, dress leather on the accents and, IT'S DUNK HIGH! And who doesn't love a good dunk high? I really like this pair because it reminds me of the DJ AM tribute dunks Nike releases a couple years ago.  Nice job, Nike! We haven't seen many GS-specific Court Force releases in a while, so it was nice to stumble upon this looker today.  Cool blue, grey, and white form the colorway for this pair, making it sleek and stylish for the small footed folks out there. Nike WMNS Blazer Mid - Colorful Canvas Pack

Nike has plans to keep the ladies' swooning this Fall season with their latest pack of Blazer Mids.  Each features a canvas upper in either bold berry, sport red, and blue glow.  The nearly monochromatic pairs get a break from one color madness with the help of a white swoosh, toe guard, sockliner, and laces.  Neato! Nike Dunk High GS - White/Metallic Gold

In the sneaker world, certain colorways and materials can reach an almost iconic status.  Take for instance, "infrared" - which has graced a number of our favorite models; and the use of patent leather, for which without it, Air Jordan 11s just wouldn't be the same.  Another notably underrated material is the gum outsole.  Predominantly seen on Dunk lows and highs, the gum sole signifies quality, sleekness and of course, undeniable sneaker swag.  With that said, check out the gum sole action on the above pictured white and metallic gold gradeschool Nike Dunk High.  Synthetic leather is used in both smooth and textured gloss form throughout the upper, with hexagon shapes on the ankle accent while mini triangular shape the toe guard.  Too clean! Nike WMNS Air Max 90 - Deep Burgundy/Cerise - White

There aren't a lot of things fresher than a clean pair of Nike Air Max 90s.  With that in mind, I'm sure you're probably pleased with the above pictured pair, which feature fantastic color blocking, similar to this pair we posted last week.  The deep burgundy accents bring about thoughts of Fall, while the very pretty cerise pink adds much appreciated spark and spunk.  Expect to see these hitting sneaker shelves very soon. Air Jordan XI (11) Retro GS - "Concord" Detailed Images

FINALLY!

After more than enough initial images and detailed shots of the year's big Holiday release in men's sizes, we finally get a look at the Air Jordan 11 "Concord" in grade school sizes.  For the most part, this small footed pair stays true to its larger sized counterpart, with signature black patent paneling and white mesh upper.  The "Concord" color comes into play on the Jumpman logo on the tongue tag and on the outsole, which comes in a light blue tint, similar to last year's Cool Greys.  They look amazing! Back in late July, we posted what was then the Preschool run of the above pictured Air Jordan 1 Phat.  Now, we have pictures of the grade school size.  Super simple white and grey base is made sparkle-icious with a holographic "diamond" swoosh.  Red accents the midsole, wings, and lining. Vibe Vixen x Atlanta Got Sole Present: Chicks Who Love Kicks

As of late, sneaker ladies have been receiving a lot of attention from our male counterparts. A notable consideration came in the form of Playboy's recent jump into the trendy business of faux sneaker "info" by releasing a photoset in which Playmates laced up (and in most cases, the shoes were all they were wearing o.O) in what the publication deemed their Top 23 Jordan models of all time.  Since then, other blog and news sites have joined the Chicks and Kicks bandwagon, including Atlanta based e-media source, Atlanta Got Sole.

Nike WMNS Air Max 90 - Bright Turquoise/Imperial Purple - White

The two words "Whew, swag" come to mind when looking at this new Nike Women's Air Max 90. Our favorite AM90 combo of leather and mesh find each other once again in the form of full grain purple and turquoise leather and white toe box and upper heel base.  Simple, yet memberable.  Do Want! Will these be affectionately nicknamed the "Aquas"? We hope not, but if they do, we could maybe see why.  Available now at SNS.

Nike Air Max Lebron 8 V/2 'Think Pink' - Swim Cash PE

Finding itself filed under the "wish these had released as a GS exclusive" category comes this PE from Seattle Storm front courter Swim Cash.  As part of the 'Think Pink' line of Nike Air Max Lebrons, which benefits the Kay Yow Women's Basketball Coaches Association Cancer fund, we've seen a number of dope player exclusives over the years, with this V/2 stacking up to be one of the best ever. The soft pink, silver, and white surpasses the typical "pink and shrink" denouncement received when seeing a sneaker of this nature.  It is appreciated not only because the color placement is perfectly executed, but because we know the cause behind the shoe is far greater than just kicks.  Check for these babies to hit the WNBA court soon!

Air Jordan 2.0 GS - Black/Classic Green - Varsity White - Red

Back shots can be deceiving, as you probably thought this was a first look at a new retro AJII.  What you're actually looking at is the latest colorway of the Air Jordan 2.0 in GS sizes.  While it's not quite a CMFT Max, it is close enough, as the Air Jordan 2.0 fuses the original retro II (2) silhouette with a full air unit.  Different... If these float your boat, be sure to pick up your pair on the official release date, August 6th at Jordan Brand retailers like WishATL.

Nike WMNS Dunk Low CL - Pink Glaze/Deep Burgundy - White

Talk about clean! A couple weeks ago, we did a post on a Nike Skinny Dunk High featuring the same colors, but  the color placement was inverted.  The Nike Dunk Low CL you see above features a light pink canvas and smooth leather upper, with a deep burgundy swoosh.  A white toe box, midsole, and laces round out this pair which remind me of a little piglet for some reason.  Anywho, a full size run is available now via ebay seller 2xwashoes.

Nike Air Force 1 Low GS - White/Cool Grey - Metallic Silver - Solar Red

SBeezies: Nike SB Dunk Mid "Golden Hops" - Spring 2012

More SBeezies news for Spring 2012.  The "Newcastle Ale" SB Dunk Mid is one of my favorites and it looks as though the upcoming Golden Hops may find a special place in my sneaker-heart too.  Golden brown micro suede is spotted on the toe box, side panels, and upper heel accent.  Smooth dark brown leather covers the remaining areas of the upper, with pops of red on the heel and tongue tag.  *sigh* If only this was a High. via N-SB.

Freaky Nail Friday - Sneaker Colorway Inspired Nail Art: Reebok BACK!

Yeah, I finally got it together and posted a sneaker mani on Friday, whoot! Gold Star for myself, lol

Today's manicure was inspired by one of the most shedangly sneakers I own.  The Reebok Freestyle Hi "Disco" released in 2008 as part of Reebok's ongoing 25th anniversary celebration.  I picked this pair up in store at St. Alfred here in Chicago and wore them about a day or so after purchase. I was THAT excited.  The gold painted leather glistens in the light and really catches the eye. Dashes of light green and pink add a flirty element that I really like, as well as the purple and pink polka dot sock liner. Snazzy! Ladies Only: Claw Money x Nike - Re-Release Available Now

Just a year prior to the birth of sneakHerbox, the first women's sneaker collaboration between Nike and fashion house Claw Money took place and was a major hit among fierce female sneaker enthusiasts.  I spotted the news of the re-release over on the FSF blog and when contributor Miss AtheGrreat hit me and fellow sneakernistas up about which pair to cop, I knew I had to post! Originally released in October of 2007, a mix of Nike Vandals and Blazers designed by brand chief Claudia Gold's alter ego - Claw Money - instantly became fan favorites and definitely one of the most notable Nike collaborations ever.  As with the first release, these will only be available for a limited time and in limited quantites - so don't wait - head over the CM's online store now!

Air Jordan V (5) Retro GS - Black/Varsity Red - Metallic Silver - Detailed Images

You probably already know that the Air Jordan V (5) Retro - Black/Varsity Red or "Metallics" as they are often referred to as, is set to drop in just a couple of weeks.  What you probably haven't seen, however, are detailed images of the grade school sized retros.  You are in luck today! The last time we saw this pair on shelves was in 2007, and staying true to (retro) form, they share the same black nubuck upper, speckled "peaks" and 3M tongue.  A slight blue tint can be seen on the outsole and we get varsity red instead of fire red but, generally those additions are not dealbreakers.  The release date is currently set for August 20th so in the meantime, check out this GS look via Caliroots.

Nike SB Dunk High Pro "Plum" - September 2011

Let me start off by saying that, I have not bought one pair of SBs this year.  Sure, that could definitely be filed under "no1curr" but, I preface this post with that pertinent information because I think this pair could put an end to my "SB no-buy" situation.  The Plum High scheduled to drop this Fall gets its look from the Nike SB Dunk  Low Plum released in 2001.  Of course, finding a pair of the original is rare if not impossible, but the revamp coming in September will serve as a nice consolation prize.  And since the Nike SB line usually shows the small footers love with models going all the way down to a size 4, chances of ol Beedee copping a pair are very high.  Be sure to check back with sneakHerbox for retailer info when it becomes available.  A few more shots after the jump, get to it!

Sneaker victory continues to be ours ladies, with new colorways for recently introduced models dropping left and right.  Today we get a look at two new Nike Toki Mids - each with a colorful striped canvas upper.  The bold berry pair keeps it fun with purple and white stripes, while the multi-colored pair adds some swag to the mix with a bright pink (cerise) and other vivid colors.  LOVE.
