Freaky Nail, er uh, Tuesday: [VIDEO] Air Jordan III White/Black - Cement colorway inspired Nail Art
Okay, so if you've been following the blog, you know that not only do I love sneakers and hello kitty memorabilia, but I also am fascinated with nail polish (see here). It's been an adoration of my heart since I was leedle beedee, back then I could only wear Tinkerbell brand peel-off polish in pink (with an occasional clear polish manicure during the school week), but eventually I grew up and onto more grown-up polish and colors. Although I've been slacking on the Freaky Nail Friday posts (understatement of the millennium), I have been keeping up with my manis, and I recently threw up a picture of a sneaker-colorway inspired manicure I did which got some kind compliments! The picture was in fact a little old, as it was part of a series of nail art tutorials I was going to do to launch the sneakHerbox youtube channel, but let's just say procrastination set it in, lol. Anyhoo, I figured I might as well post this some-what of a tutorial video now, and since the weather is nice, start doing more tutorials for you guise. So, below is a slideshow of what I did to create a white/cement III inspired mani, and warning: IT IS NOT AT ALL COMPLICATED lol In the future I'll do more freehand art and jazz up the technique a little bit, but as a starter, please enjoy the video below! Thanks :)
Nike Dunk Low GS - White/Black - Sport Red
Here's a simple dunk for the summer! Red and black patent leather dance through this sneaker's upper, while white leather keep the toe box and side panel areas nice and smooth. I like this pair a lot, reminds me of the 03 patent red and white AJ1s :) Look out for this pair to hit Nike retailers soon. via Rakuten

Nike WMS Racquette & Mid QS - Four Colorways
Well hiya!
Here we have a four new colorways of the classic Nike model, the Racquette, including an updated version, the Racquette Mid. The Racquette features a canvas upper with leather and suede accents in Sail and Venice (pale pink). The Mid version totes a perforated suede upper with a leather swoosh in Medium Grey and Black. A rubber outsole provides sturdy and comfortable support on all of the above pictured models. I like this model alot because of it's super sleek design and the retro version still has a great throwback feel to it, iDig. Dropping as a QS, this pack will be available overseas in-store and online at retailers such as Caliroots. However, don't fret as general release versions of the Racquette low will be releasing in a number of colorways this Summer here in the US!

Nike WMS Toki ND Canvas "dots" - Three Colorways
I previously posted the Court Blue and Challenge Red Toki mids and they were well received! Now a new colorway joins those two. Light pink, ironically named "Champagne" on the box, rounds out the "dots" pack and is a great contrast to the vivid red and blue color schemes. I can definitely see myself rocking these, how about you? More pics after the jump.
Available at Kix-Files.

sneakHer news: Maya Moore & the Jumpman – an in-depth look at what this step means for Maya, future female athletes, and female sneaker enthusiasts.
Yesterday the internet was set a blaze with the news that UConn Alum, Maya Moore, would become the first female basketball player EVER signed to Jordan Brand. If you follow women’s college basketball, you’re familiar with Maya’s long list of achievements. She’s received first team All-American honors each of the four years of her college playing career, won back to back NCAA Championships with her UConn Huskies teammates (2009 & 2010) and was the Number 1 draft pick of the 2011 WNBA draft and signed a deal with the Minnesota Lynx. HUGE accomplishments for this 21 year old, who, in addition to all those feats, will now be seen as the premier women’s representative of a distinguished footwear brand who’s prestige has been identified with steadfast ability, strength, incomparable skill and trendsetting style. Although we’ve seen the bulk of those qualities illustrated through male athletes such as Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and more recently, Dwyane Wade; Maya Moore will be the first female basketball star to embody all of those characteristics as a global representative for Jordan Brand. So what does this all really mean?

YOUR TURN: Could It Be (GS)?
Last week I posted a Could It Be GS? Post for the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Phat White/Navy release.
The original release was not limited to men’s only, but it got me thinking about all of the LE and exclusive colorways in numbered retro models guys have gotten over the past few years that we’ve missed out on. Now, don’t get me wrong, we sfs’ers get a lot of GS specific colorways and trust, it is most appreciated. However, in light of the releases we’ve seen either retro as kids-only or full family although originally men's only (see Nubuck 12s, Black/Patent AJ1s, etc.), it makes me wonder what could possibly be next?
What you see above are a few special edition or LE Men’s only Jordan Brand releases that are NOT PLANNING ON RETROING (so don’t start spewing rumors all on the innanet). My question to you is, if you had to choose one of the above pictured Jordans to retro as a GS only release, which would you choose? What would you change? Not fond of any of the above pictured kicks, which other Jordan would you choose?

And They Say Chi-City: Akin North 1 Year Anniversary Party
It's funny to think that a year has nearly gone by since the Akin Northside opening my crew and I went to last summer. The weather was certainly not as agreeable as it was back then, but the guys at Akin through a great shindig to rep their 1st full year in business at their second location. This year, all the stops were brought out including a Nike NSW customization truck in which you could add text and appliques to Nike hoodies, tees, and track jackets. Additionally, right outside the store was a "Paint War" battle of grafitti and paint artists, who were really brave to stand out in the cold rain to showcase their skills, lol. There was also entertainment provided by a hip hop instrumental quartet (whose name I didn't catch =/) who did their thing thing, along with The Odd Couple, who's performance I didn't get a chance to see but I'm sure they did awesome. I had to leave early because of another engagement so I missed the raffle but there were some great prizes including a Air Jordan Defining Moments Pack & Year of the Rabbit AJ7 & Nike AF1. Lots of folks came out to the event, sneakerheads and spectactors and I got to see some old friends and make new ones, like SOLEhead tyfotos - Chicago's own ill photographer (info on his #CSHPS coming soon!), he's really cool and very talented. Anyhoo, check out all the photos from the event below and if you are in Chicago, head over to Akin Chicago to give the boys a congrats!

Vans x Hello Kitty - June 2011
Most of my readers know that I am a HK stan, with plenty of memorabilia to show for it. In the past couple of years, we’ve seen a number of Hello Kitty footwear and streetwear collaborations, some good, some…not so good. The Vans x Hello Kitty footwear collaboration lies somewhere in-between. I love the models chose including the Authentic and Slip-On, but I am a little on the fence about the design choices. The all-over prints are super kawaii for the kiddies (as these will be available in both adult and kid sizes) but might be a little too playful for some of the adults. Then again, being playful and cute is the Hello Kitty way, lol. I really want the pink based Authentic with black outlined HK faces pictured above!
All of these should hit Vans retailers, Vans.com and Sanrio.com this June, so keep a look out for more updates right here on sneakHerbox.com! More looksies after the jump.
Air Jordan III Retro GS - White/True Blue
YESSUH!
June 4th is under a month away and most, if not all, sneaker enthusiasts KNOW what that date means. It’ll be the third retro in total, but only the second for us small footed folk (as 2009’s release was a men’s only Euro exclusive). I’m very excited to see the recent GS 2011 retro pics hit the web and I must say, they look GREAT! Nearly the same as it’s OG, we only see a small change in the number of eyelets near the toe area of the shoe, which we can live with I’m sure! View more pics of these beauties after the jump and be sure to head over to your favorite Jordan Brand retailer on Saturday, June 4th, to pick up your pair!

Nike WMS Air Max 90 – Mineral Blue/Obsidian – Birch – White
Just in tammm (time, but said in my ‘country’ accent) for Summer, a new Nike WMS AM90 colorway. The materials on this particular look stays true to the AM90 form we love with leather and mesh seen in their traditional spots. Birch laces add a unexpected twist to this generally appealing sneaker. Now available at Kix-Files. More pics after the jizump.

Nike WMS Air Force 1 High - White/Club Purple
Do my eyes deceive me? What appears to be a re-shaped WMS Air Force 1 High appears before you in a classic white and purple color combo. After a less than appealing attempt at slimming down the iconic model with the Air Feather, it seems as though Nike decided to improve the original model. This is what I’m talking about! The WMS AF1 Highs from the past couple of years have been, awesome colorways aside, bulky. I have always been a AF1 fiend, but shied away from highs because of the boot like appearance on foot. It’s nice to see a small bit of change that is sure to draw me back in. DO WANT! Now Available at Premier.
Nike Air Max Command - Black/Spark - Stealth - Chlorine Blue
Check out this new Women's Air Max Command colorway! Black base with grey, spark pink, & chlorine blue accents. Contrasting black and pink laces finish the look. Hot!
Give the folks over at Extra Butter NY a call to order a pair.

It is truly gym season for a lot of young ladies out there (including a majority of my friends, thanks for making me feel fat chicas! -___-). Of course, when you're strutting your gams around the fitness center, you want to look good, and Nike has just released an Animal Print pack of Pocket Runners to keep you fit and fashionable! Coming in leopard, zebra, and pony, these are sure to please and are lightweight and flexible enough to roll up and toss in your workout bag! Sweet! These are releasing as a QS so they shall be hard to find once gone, you can order your pair (or three) now from Caliroots. View the additional styles and more shots of the above pictured leopard print PR after the jump.

You Should Know: Nike Air Max Lebron VIII P.S. GS - White/Black - Sport Red
The 3rd installment of the Nike Air Max Lebron 8 series is the P.S. or Post Season Lebron 8. The P.S. Air Max Lebron 8 was created to usher Lebron into the playoffs with the Miami Heat by providing a breathable, lightweight sneaker with full support and comfort. The aesthetics on the P.S. differ significantly from that of the first two versions, but the same attention to specs has been put into this new model. Mesh can be seen on the upper of the P.S., in addition to a 180 air max unit (versus a 360 unit seen on both the V1 and V2 units) providing protection and stability.
